
Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm and Zoo
Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm and Zoo was founded in 1950 by Mr. Utai Youngprapakorn. It is also the world’s first, largest and most progressive crocodile breeding farm. It is situated at Tambon Tai Ban, 3 km from Samut Prakan town, 10 km from Bangkok. The farm has over 80,000 crocodiles with different sizes from less than one foot to 6 meters long. There are 5,000 of giant crocodiles, which are 5 – 6 meters long. The farm has a hybrid crocodile of the saltwater and the freshwater, called “Chao Yai”. Chao Yai is the world’s largest crocodile, and certified by the Guinness Book of Records as having the length of 6 meters, the weight of 1,114.27 kgs.
Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm and Zoo has the most complete cycle of activities from crocodile breeding to crocodile skin production. The products of crocodile skin are crocodile skin handbags, crocodile skin belts, crocodile skin key chains, crocodile skin shoes, and crocodile skin accessories and gifts. Crocodile meat is also considered a delicacy and one of the best nutrient foods such as crocodile soup, dried crocodile meat, and canned crocodile meat.
Visitors can enjoy other activities such as Crocodile Wrestling Show (catch with freehand), Feeding Crocodiles. Visitors can take pictures with a crocodile, an elephant or a tiger. Enjoy the show of well-trained elephants such as Elephant Drawing Show, Elephant Dancing Show. Enjoy the ride on an elephant for a sightseeing trip, relax on the mini train or on a horse carriage, test your shooting skills at the shooting range. The zoo also has other creatures from all over the world, including elephants, tigers, camels, chimpanzees, bears, gibbons, lions, snakes, turtles, boa constrictors, pythons, birds, hippopotamuses, and of various species of fishes.

Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm and Zoo is the only farm that shows a step by step of a crocodile’s life cycle including the natural hatching and the laboratory hatching, how to take care of a newborn crocodile until it can breed. There are other exotic types of crocodile that cannot find elsewhere such as the golden crocodile, the albino crocodile, the five-legged crocodile, the six-legged crocodile, the eyeless crocodile, the tailless crocodile, the crooked crocodile, etc.

Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm and Zoo is considered as an important welcoming place of Thailand. Visitors to Thailand cannot miss this world’s largest crocodile farm.
Daily shows feature catching crocodiles freehand. Shows take place every hour from 09.00-17.00., except at noon; additional shows at 12.00 and 17.00 on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Feeding time is from 16.30 - 17.30. Another star attraction for visitors is the elephant show, the performances are held daily every hour from 09.30 -16.30. There is a Dinosaur Museum which has on display life-size models and skeletons of more than 13 kinds of dinosaurs and also features a multi-vision slide presentation on man and prehistoric animals.
Shopping for crocodile leather or fish skin handbags, belts, shoes and many more interesting souvenirs of the farm. This is definitely a "must" , when visiting Thailand.

Admission : There is a two price system. 80 baht for Thai and 300 baht for foreigners. If you can speak Thai you can usually get local price.
How to get there
By Car
The main entrance to the Crocodile Farm is off Sukhumwit Road. Driving from Bangkok on Sukhumwit Road, it will take about ten minutes (depending on traffic) from The Erawan Museum. The distance to this turnoff is 7.2 kms. When arrive in Samutprakan, do not enter the city but turn left at the traffic lights following the sign for "Chon Buri". This is the bypass around the city. A few minutes later will pass Big C on the right. At the next intersection, go straight across the lights. This turnoff is 500 meters after the traffic lights. Turn right down this Soi. Go to the end where the road does a sharp turn to the right. Keep going for another 600 meters and you will see the Crocodile Farm car park on your left.
By Bus
Take air-conditioned buses Line Nos. 7, 8, and 511, to the end of the Line or by non air-conditioned buses Line Nos. 25 and 102, to Samut Prakan and then take another ride on a local truck (blue songtaew), which goes all the way to the Crocodile Farm. Also take Songtaew 30 or 36 from Paknam which goes along Sukhumwit Road. The songtaew costs 8 baht and a motorcycle taxi from the top of the Soi costs only 10 baht. If you want to go to Ancient Siam afterwards, come back to this intersection and catch the same songtaew again for another 4 kms.
