There are 4 shopping spots along the Chao Phraya Riverside. It is fast and easy for shoppers to go there by a taxi river. The shopping areas are located at well-known piers: Tha Prachan Pier, Tha Wang Lang Pier, Tha Klong Sarn Pier, and Tha Saphan Phut Pier.
Tha Prachan Pier

Start with Tha Prachan Pier, which is the most popular shopping area among Thammasat University students. In the past, this area used to be the Prachan Fort at the western wall of the capital city along the Chao Phraya Riverside; they were built in the Reign of King Rama I. In the Reign of King Rama V, the King was pleased to make use of the area in Bowornsathanmongkol Palace or Wang Na (National Musuem) to build Sanam Luang. All forts including the Prachan Fort and walls around the palace were demolished for Sanam Luang.
The shops at Tha Prachan Pier are well-arranged in the square rooms. Fashionable clothes, foods, bookshops, music shops, and famous fortune tellers are gathered here.

Larn Khonmuang Tha Prachan or Larn Wattanatham is a large ground next to the wall of Thammasat University. The ground is beautiful and well-arranged because The Government Lottery Office and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration had improved this ground to celebrate the 50th anniversary of His Majesty's accession to the throne.
Today, this ground is the shopping spot for university students, children and working people. Shoppers will be thrilled with the variety of products such as fashionable clothes, handmade clothes, T-shirts, coats, cloaks, singlets, vests, dress, shorts, pants, skirts, shoes, handbags, accessories, postcards, and small gifts. Many of vendors here are students and locals.

Furthermore, there is a very old market selling amulets and small Buddha images on Prachan Road. This old market has been here for more than 20 years. It is very crowded. The opposite Tha Prachan Pier is Tha Wang Lang Pier. In the past, Wang Lang or Bovornsathanphimuk Palace was used as the important force to protect the capital in the Reign of King Rama I. Later in the Reign of King Rama III, Wang Lang had been abandoned. Siriraj Hospital had made use of some pieces of this abandoned land to expand its hospital area.

In the past, Klong Sarn District used to be Lamphu Lang District of Thonburi Province. Later, it was changed its name to be Buppharam District. In 1916, King Rama VI was pleased to change its name from Buppharam District to Klong Sarn District. Afterwards, Bangkok and Thonburi were combined together. Klong Sarn District is a part of Bangkok.

The shopping area is located at roadside of Tha Saphan Phut Pier and around the bridge. The market will be crowded at 7.00 pm to midnight every night except Monday. This market is well-known for its cheap prices of first hand and second hand products. There are clothes, accessories, jeans, shoes, and handbags in trend just like other places. Shoppers can bargain prices. It is dark at night, shoppers should be careful in picking products.
The biggest flower market at Pak Klong Talad (Pak Klong Market)
There are amateur artists who can draw very well in both portrait and parody at Saparn Phut Market. Furthermore, the flower market nearby is the biggest and the most famous flower market in Bangkok, Pak Klong Talad. Shoppers can find many kinds of flowers including local flowers and imported flowers such as colourful roses, lotus, chrysanthemum, and lily. The prices are cheap. The market is open both day and night.
